We are pleased to announce the start of The Brown Bag Book Club! Best yet, during the summer months when reading is often on our minds, we are offering these 30 minute webinar meetings for free !

Just as the best social book clubs introduce you to new authors and new books, give you a community to discuss ideas and share opinions, and offer a schedule and pace to keep your reading on track, we have the same goals in mind.Business books reading list

The authors, analysts and thinkers we select will engage you in timely topics that are impacting our work, lives, and organizations. We’ll provide you with discussion points that outline key ideas in advance, help prepare you for the conversation, and allow you to continue the dialogue online with the author and your peers afterwards.  Just as the tag line in the above image encourages you to bring your questions, we’ve a few of our own and each session is centered around them.

So let’s begin by inviting you to join organizational expert and author Dr. Anthony Smith for the frankest public discussion of leaders and leadership you will ever experience.  Appropriately, we’ll start with “Session One: The Double Standard” on July 14th.  In this session we’ll ask: Is there any issue more toxic in today’s organizations than the notion of a double standard?

Then we’ll turn to Dr. David Cohen on August 5th for “Just-in-Time HR“, which promises to be a very timely discussion about how to think of your soft human capital issues in hard numbers and how you can condition your executives to about the ROI of HR.  During this session, we push David to tell us: Is Measuring ROI an Important HR Activity?

If we haven’t run out of goodwill with our inquiries, we will welcome Dr. Smith for a return engagement, “Session Two: Leaders and Work-Life Balance“, on August 13th.  Given that we’ll go way back with Tony by then, we intend to demand to know: Is a lack of balance an unhealthy flaw that needs to be corrected or is it an inherent aspect of what it takes for a driven person to be successful?

We will be adding to our summer reading and discussion list, so check back throughout the season so as to not miss any of these valuable and engaging sessions.   You may also drop us a note to let us know which issues are of interest to you or simply what you are reading that you’ve found of use and interest.

To sign up for any of these sessions, simply follow the appropriate link above to that event’s page and fill out the registration form.  We look forward to seeing you.
