Values: The Energy Source for Employee Engagement

What is it about values? We’re sure we have them. We say they are very important. But what are they? What’s the connection between values and performance?

Values drive performance and are the only sustainable basis of self-generated motivation. Leaders and managers must understand values not only to direct and motivate their workforce, but to have any process of development and change be effective and stick.

When values aren’t explored, unconscious, automatic behaviors limit learning, undermine performance and constrain what’s possible. Poorly understood values lead to burn out and talent turnover – two costly events for any organization.

But when our core values are satisfied and fulfilled in ways that are meaningful to us, we perform at our best.
